Substitutionary Atonement

This theory makes Jesus into the sacrificial lamb of an ancient Jewish practice in which a lamb (or some other animal) was brought to the priest and was slaughtered — a practice they copied from heathen nations, not commanded by God. “For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices” (Jer 7:22)

Jesus was a type of sacrificial lamb

One problem with this theory is that God never was happy with the practice of animal sacrifice, in fact, he hated it from the very beginning. God did not accept their sacrifices as a expiation (the act of making amends for guilt). God preferred that men repented, forsook their sins and made peace with God directly.

But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. (Jer 7:22-23)

Heresies of Paul

Paul: Only faith, works of righteousness not necessary for salvation

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Eph 2:8-9)

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.(Rom 10:9-10)

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us (Tit 3:5)

Jesus: Only those who do the will God will be saved

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but (only) he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (Mat 7:21)

According to Jesus, it’s NOT about just believing something in your heart that gets one into the kingdom of heaven, like Paul preached. It’s about doing God’s will; it’s about doing works of righteousness; it’s about living a righteously and it’s about the process of perfection, that gets one into the kingdom of heaven.

Lamb Of God Part 2

Is one’s sins forgiven and taken away or not?

This is very confusing. Is one’s sins forgiven and taken away or not? It seems that the bible says both. However, even though God and Jesus forgive sins, the bible shows that one must pay for his own sins. (See: Lamb of God Part 1) If there is no demand of punishment for offenses, then how is it that a man must reap what he sows, receive things done in his body whether good or bad, few or many stripes for unfaithfulness whether worthy of punishment or not?
