Story of Jesus Unlikely to be Completely True
So now that we have taken a brief, and condensed look at the story told about the life of Jesus as told according to the writers of the Gospels, which in all likelihood was not how it actually happened, we will take a look at an alternate possible reality of his life. The reason for this is, it’s pretty obvious that these writers made up a lot of what they wrote for various reasons (which we look into later), and even left out much of what was actually originally written and is unlikely how it actually was.
Matthew’s Gospel
The “Gospel according to the Hebrews” written by Matthew in Aramaic, the spoken language of Jesus and his disciples, a disciple that actually knew Jesus personally, was written many years before the famous 4 gospels were written. Matthew’s gospel most certainly would have had the most true and accurate facts about the actual life and deeds of Jesus.
However, mysteriously, this precious gospel has strangely disappeared from our world’s historical records. It is Humanity’s prerogative to know the real Truth about a man who made possibly more of an impression on men and women than any other person in all of World history.
It is very likely that the Greek writers got much of their historical material from the Gospel according to the Hebrews, in my view. It’s extremely unlikely they obtained much of the information for their writings passed down orally, as there is much specific detail in the four gospels that could very unlikely be remembered in such specific detail after more than 40 years of Jesus’ execution. And as we know, stories change much being passed from person to person over the years.
Gospel Stories Likely Corrupted
Certainly not much, if any, of the writings of the 4 gospels could have been passed down orally. Much of their writings are riddled with inconsistencies and contradictions which reveals that there is much information in these gospels that could not possibly be authentic and could not possibly be a complete record. Not having any of the original manuscripts of the records of actual events, but having been rewritten copies of copies, makes it highly possible that much of the Truth has been lost or changed over time by men who have had less than high standards and morals in the conservation of true history.
Since there is no way the writings that the writings of the life and deeds Jesus in the four gospels contained in the New Testament could be inerrant nor even complete and accurate, it is only fair that we should be permitted to speculate, based on literal facts and evidence we do have, about what the real Truth is about the life story of one of the most famous men in the world of all history, the man they call Jesus Christ.
Jesus: Messiah, King of the Jews?
If Jesus was supposed to be the promised Messiah and the King of the Jews, then he had to have known that there were prophesies that he had to fulfill. Contrary to what teachers of Christianity would have us to believe, the Messiah WAS to be a great king as was King David in the Old Testament and NOT a savior. There is no other way that you could correctly interpret the fact that the Messiah was to be an authentic king of the Jews who would save God’s people from their enemies, in which case, was the Romans who oppressed them.
These Christian teachers want us all to believe that the real enemy of men’s souls is “sin” (which, in a certain sense is) and that what the Scriptures are actually trying to say is that “Jesus came to ‘save’ men from their own sins” and “save them from the ‘wages of sin’ which is Hell for all eternity.” (This is an issue I address in other articles)
This they would have us to believe, rather than what it literally says. What they are saying is “the Old Testament Bible doesn’t really mean what it actually says.” “You need us theologians to tell you what God really meant to say.”
Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. (Zec 6:13)
And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. (Eze 37:24)
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. (Isa 9:7)
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. (Jer 23:5)
In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. (Jer 33:15)
Notice the words rule, reign, king, throne, and execute judgement. The Messiah sounds like a literal king with a throne, ruling and reigning and executing judgement. Does any of that description sound like the life of Jesus we read about in the Bible? No.
Did Jesus Fulfill Messianic Prophesy?
So what Messiah king of the Jews was supposed to do at his coming, was to literally save the Jews from their enemy oppressors — the Romans. Now if Jesus, in reality, really DID believe that he was Messiah king of the Jews, as the people expected him to be, what would you think he would have done? He would have raised an army and lead an insurrection against their enemies and not merely a seditious conspiracy. Furthermore, this event certainly wouldn’t have been out of place with what was happening between the Jews and the Romans in the first century especially since he was executed between two insurrectionists!
King Jesus, the Insurrectionist
King Jesus and his army would have been seen as insurrectionists and there would have been great rebellions and violence and bloodshed. Cesar would have sent out an army to put down the rebellion. And as we all know there are almost always winners and losers in any war and the “good guys” don’t always win. And they are the very ones who write history, I would add. Wasn’t Paul on the side of the Romans?
Jesus Executed for Insurrection
If Jesus was accused of being a king, that was sedition at a minimum. If Jesus was convicted of insurrection and sentenced to be executed, then that would obviously mean that Jesus lead an army in a violent uprising (not just seditious conspiracy), lost the battle and failed to save the Jewish people from Roman occupation and oppression. If he lost the battle, then that means than he failed to fulfill Bible prophecy and he wasn’t the real Messiah as the people thought he was. At least that’s the way I understand bible prophecy to work.
Jesus Executed with Insurrectionists
One interesting thing that fits into this version of the story, that is also found in the gospels, is the fact that Jesus, the king and leader of this insurrection was tied up with other insurrectionists that had made insurrection with Jesus, who were executed because of the “murder” they committed during the insurrection. It sounds like Jesus tried to save the Jews from their Roman enemies, but failed!
And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him (referring to Jesus?), who had committed murder in the insurrection. (Mk 15:7)
So, there was an actual insurrection, recorded in the Bible, in the time of Jesus! How did the correctors not catch this one?
King Jesus and His Army Defeated
The result of this disastrous defeat of king Jesus and his army would have shed great doubt on the movement and teachings that he disseminated. But most likely it wouldn’t have necessarily meant the end of the ‘Way’ that Jesus taught. What ended up happening was that the disciples and all of the followers of Jesus’ teaching evolved and spread out into many different sects and beliefs.
The Gospels
What actually happened, though, in the life of Jesus may have been much different than we imagine, since the stories of the realities of that time in the gospels we have were likely completely rewritten 40 to 80 years later to save the movement and fit in with the Pauline agendas. Furthermore, the oldest manuscripts that exist of the Bible are from the fourth century! Only God knows how much forgery may have happened until then!
The Book of Acts
I have read there exist several different versions of the book of the Acts of the apostles. The fact of the matter is that within the last 2000 years the book of Acts may have radically changed also, for all we know. No one really knows who wrote the book of Acts.
The New Name of Jesus’ Movement
By the time that the first Greek gospel was written, the early church had many new Greek followers. At some point along the way the movement that Jesus had started became known as Christianity, not named after Jesus the CHRIST, but because of the disciples Paul won in Antioch who were of a completely different religious group, the members of which were called Christians according to certain historical documents.
Evidently, the name Christian was born from the association with worshipers of the Serapis “Christus” cult. It was said that the Bishops of the cult were called “Christians”. It appears that some of the concepts of the Christianity were adopted from cult of Serapis Christus: the name Christianity, the Trinity (three in one god Serapis) and Bishops. The word bishop was not known with the early Jewish believers. Leaders of the early church were known as priests, as it was for hundreds of years before.
The Word Christ Did Not Originally Mean Messiah
Believe it or not the word ‘Christ’ actually came from the Greek and somewhere along the way (for certain reasons) the word took on the definition of the idea of the Messiah. The actual word for messiah in Hebrew is “melekh mashiach”, which literally means “the anointed king”. Christ wasn’t the original word for messiah, nor did it even come from Hebrew, but Greek. So if Christians try to tell you that Messiah wasn’t a king, there’s your proof.
Was Jesus a King, or Wasn’t He?
If Jesus wasn’t a king, then he couldn’t have been the Messiah.
Because the Messiah was to be a literal reigning king who would “execute judgement and justice” to save the Jewish people from their enemies. In the gospels we have today, there isn’t even a hint that Jesus was a king nor even that he believed himself to be a king or even wanted to be.
In Jewish eschatology, the term mashiach, or “Messiah”, refers specifically to a future Jewish king from the Davidic line, who is expected to save the Jewish nation, and will be anointed with holy anointing oil and rule the Jewish people during the Messianic Age (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messiah_in_Judaism)
Saving Christianity
So to save Christianity and to take advantage of the situation, Paul radically changed the new religion that Jesus began. Some new and false ideas that Jesus would never have agreed to were introduced by Paul. And somehow, somewhere along the way the name of the movement that Jesus started became known as Christianity, which Jesus himself would never have approved of an was himself a Jew — having NEVER been called a Christian. Jesus was a Jew.
According to the Gospel Writers
Jesus, who was executed (crucified) for (falsely being accused of) leading an insurrection, was turned into the Savior of the world, taking on the “sins” of all of humanity — past, present and future — by the writers of the gospels.
In Reality?
Jesus, was rescued from Roman execution and survived, was doctored of his wounds by two faithful followers, then appeared to his disciples by night under cover of darkness, showed them his injuries, proving to them he was still alive, then fled the country, later having been seen in Saudi Arabia.
According to the Gospel Writers
The gospels make Jesus the Christ who died and after 3 days was raised from the dead by God and conveniently ascended into Heaven, which is why he was never seen again.
What Christianity Actually Became
Christianity is definitely not the same way of life that Jesus taught. The way of living that Jesus taught and his true followers went underground; Paul took advantage of the momentum, completely transformed it and exported it to Rome where Constantine took it, changed it even more from what Paul made it and made it the official religion of the Roman Empire.
