Law of Love

Jesus’ new Law of Love was a law that Jesus gave that he meant to replace the famous 10 Commandments received by Moses according to the Old Testament. It is found in the 46th chapter of the Gospel of the Nazirenes. It was not included anywhere in the copies written by New Testament writers, most likely (and unfortunately) because there are parts that contradict the writings of Paul and are not compatible with the dogmas of the Church.

Law of Love Paraphrased

Verse 10 is a law against killing animals for sport or for profit. Jesus advocated abstaining from the eating of meat, not only because eating animal meat is unhealthy, but also since he was against harming or killing innocent creatures.

Verse 11 basically is the same as “thou shalt not steal”, but expands on it making it unlawful to accumulate wealth more than is necessary for one’s life. (Would that make it unlawful to be a multi-millionaire or billionaire?)

Verse 12 makes animal sacrifice and the eating meat or drinking of animal blood unlawful. Jesus considered eating animals not only unhealthy, but that it shortened one’s life and drastically reduced the quality of life. He taught man should only eat food that comes from the Earth such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, etc.

Verse 13 In my view, speaks against marrying for financial gain or position, or any marriage which would be unhealthy.

Verse 14 is pretty much like the 10 Commandments about not lying about others, but he adds not deceiving or hurting others through lies.

Verse 15 is basically the whole law summed up in don’t do to others what you wouldn’t want them to do to you.

Verse 21 Similarly, sums up the law also, but focusing on doing good to others that you would want them to do for you.

Verse 16 — Similar to “loving the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind”, and “not taking God’s name in vain”.

Verse 17 is also like the 10 commandments in that we are to honor our parents. But Jesus goes farther and adds a very important point in revering the Teachers of Righteousness. For they are the ones who enlighten man in the ways that lead to entrance into the Kingdom of God.

Verse 18 speaks to protecting the weak, the poor and needy, the orphans etc. But one thing that Jesus frequently expounded on was protecting and not mistreating all of God’s creatures, including animals.

On this point the Church is always pretty much silent since humans kill, torture, make commerce of animals, hunt them for sport and eat animals. The Church probably doesn’t speak about it much since they may not have known much about it — the writers of the New Testament left out this prohibition in their copies and manuscripts — for obvious reasons.

Verse 19 is a homage to good, honest, productive work, and not work that gets unfair gain from others or takes advantage of others for dishonest gain. This commandment comes with the promise of long life and abundance.

Verse 20 — Purifying, not only on the 3rd and 6th days but “daily” and regular resting from labor for the health of the body.

The Law of Love

46:9. Hear O Israel, JOVA, thy God is One; many are My seers, and My prophets. In Me all live and move, and have subsistence.

46:10. Ye shall not take away the life of any creature for your pleasure, nor for your profit, nor yet torment it.

46:11. Ye shall not steal the goods of any, nor gather lands and riches to yourselves, beyond your need or use.

46:12. Ye shall not eat the flesh, nor drink the blood of any slaughtered creature, nor yet any thing which bringeth disorder to your health or senses.

46:13. Ye shall not make impure marriages, where love and health are not, nor yet corrupt yourselves, or any creature made pure by the Holy.

46:14. Ye shall not bear false witness against any, nor wilfully deceive any by a lie to hurt them.

46:15. Ye shall not do unto others, as ye would not that others should do unto you.

46:16. Ye shall worship One Eternal, the Father-Mother in Heaven, of Whom are all things, and reverence the holy Name.

46:17. Ye shall revere your fathers and your mothers on earth, whose care is for you, and all the Teachers of Righteousness.

46:18. Ye shall cherish and protect the weak, and those who are oppressed, and all creatures that suffer wrong.

46:19. Ye shall work with your hands the things that are good and seemly; so shalt ye eat the fruits Of the earth, and live long in the land.

46:20. Ye shall purify yourselves daily and rest the Seventh Day from labour, keeping holy the Sabbaths and the Festival of your God.

46:21. Ye shall do unto others as ye would that others should do unto you.

46:24. This is the new Law unto the Israel of God, and the Law is within, for it is the Law ye shall purify yourselves daily and rest the Seventh Day of Love,

and it is not new but old. Take heed that ye add nothing to this law, neither take anything from it. Verily I say unto you, they who believe and obey this law shall be saved, and they who know and obey it not, shall be lost.

Jesus clarified the commandment, “thou shalt not kill”. This he extended to hurting, torturing and killing innocent animals. He made the exception in the case where it would be necessary to put down an innocent animal in order to put it out of its misery, or in the case a dangerous wild animal were to threaten one’s life.

47:3. It hath been written, Thou shalt not kill, but I say unto you, if any hate and desire to slay, they are guilty of the law, yea, if they cause hurt or torture to any innocent creature they are guilty. But if they kill to put an end to suffering which cannot be healed, they are not guilty, if they do it quickly and in love.

38:5 But if any animal suffer greatly, and if its life be a misery unto it. or if it be dangerous to you, release it from its life quickly, and with as little pain as you can…
